Women Invite Others To Networking Group

The next Women in Nassau helping Women in Need meeting will be
6:30 p.m. Monday at Divine Finds on Amelia Island in the Palmetto
Walk Shopping Center. WIN WIN is a ladies' networking group established to benefit women dealing with cancer, through Gerri's
Corner. "The idea is that we get together, break bread, network our businesses, fellowship and raise money for Nassau County's own cancer resource center, Gerri's Corner," said WIN WIN president Connie Braithwaite. "Women need each other. So we get together, laugh a little, eat a lot - all while raising money for a worthy women's foundation, right in our own backyard." Attendees bring food, a bottle of wine to share with the group and a $35 check payable to Gerri's Corner. Newcomers are not required to bring food and drink. Business members are encouraged to bring brochures and business cards. All women who want to get involved in this worthy cause are encouraged to attend, even if they do not have a business to network. Gerri's Corner is named for Gerri Dadd, who battled breast cancer for 15 years and passed away in November 2005. Gerri's Corner is headed by her sister, Chris Alznauer, a Fernandina Beach resident. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and is a nonprofit resource center for Nassau County women, their families and friends, who are facing cancer. Gerri's Corner contains an extensive lending library that provides valuable information on various forms of cancer. The center also provides free wigs, headliners, sleep caps and hairpieces. In addition, women undergoing chemotherapy are given a gift bag which includes handmade comfort pillows, afghans, special bears and memo books.
The theme of Gerri's Corner is sharing beauty and spreading hope.
