WIN WIN was born in 2007 by Connie Braithwaite and a
small group of close friends and highly talented local women.
I decided it was time to use my God-given talents and the talents
of other local women to make money for a worthy cause. I have
been living and working in Nassau County for several years and
have met some amazing women who like myself, want to make a difference in their businesses and in their community. I enjoy
networking and entertaining and I am always looking for ways
to meet other successful women. After attending a similar event in Jacksonville called "Womenade" and getting to know the founder,
Judy Hicks, I knew I wanted to make a dent in my community,
the way Judy had for her charity, Daniel. I brainstormed with
Judy about how to start a Nassau County networking group, how
to select a local charity, and how to get women (old friends and new)
to come and share their talents and business. I was pleased with
the turnout of the first organizational meeting as many friends and
neighbors showed up to share ideas, network and break bread
together. We interviewed three charities and after learning about
their needs and background, we voted to work with Gerri’s Corner,
a non-profit resource center for Nassau County women with cancer.
It is the only resource center of its kind in Florida! Gerri’s Corner
assists women and their families to better deal with the changes
they will go through as they fight cancer. Then, Judi Seay, a friend
and neighbor called one morning and said the group’s name had
come to her and she had to share. Win Win (Women in Nassau
helping Women in Need) was born! I had goose bumps when she
said the name, knowing that again, the talents of others, coming
together, would make this group a success. We get together, break
bread, network our businesses, share a bottle of wine, fellowship
and raise money for Nassau County’s own cancer resource center,
Gerri’s Corner. Women need each other. So we get together, laugh
a little and eat a lot-- all while raising money for a worthy women’s foundation, right in our own backyard.
